A teacher wears ‘Encantadia’ costumes to encourage enrollment amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Netizens could not help but express admiration for this dedicated teacher who goes above and beyond her call of duty to ensure that more learners will be in school this year.

Teacher Lorena Dela Cruz wears costumes as part of her teaching strategy to the Grade 4 pupils at Lamao Elementary School in Brgy. Lamao, Limay in Bataan. She wears costumes to catch her pupils’ attention and to make it easier for them to retain the important lessons she wishes to impart.

For Teacher Lorena, the costumes do not just catch attention but also helps kids remember the good things and great values taught by the story.

But with the possibility of having no face-to-face learning this school year, Teacher Lorena still continues to wear her many costumes to work. This time around, however, she does it in front of the computer so she can encourage more learners to go to school.

Under the ‘new normal’, teachers have to adapt to a modern system of education. But aside from the challenge of creating learning modules for their students, they first have to encourage parents to enroll their children this school year.

According to Teacher Lorena, not all parents have the necessary gadgets to use for online learning. Many could not afford to buy one.

But most of the parents agree that they don’t want their children to miss school this year. So, they are trying their best to work with the teachers to learn about the modular methods they can use to teach their own children at home.

Teacher Lorena added that it is important for parents to step up and help continue their children’s education at home, because this will be the kids’ weapon and shield for a better future.
