For many people, education is the key to success. Thus, a lot of people aim to finish their education because they know that they could become successful in life if they do that.

Yet that’s something that is easier said than done! In fact, so many young people struggle to even stay in school, mostly because school is hard and they are having a difficult time with their lessons. There are also many who struggle with so many problems that they experience in school, including lack of school supplies or even food.

To encourage her learners to try harder, Teacher Maristella Fabian of Teodoro Camacho Sr. Elementary School in Balanga City, Bataan decided to give them rewards for their hard work. Knowing that her students might be struggling with their study load at home, the teacher decided to give them loot bags as reward.

She hopes that this will encourage them to study better so they can have another reward. She also makes sure to keep the classroom set up as if the students were actually going to school for a face-to-face class. So, each time a parent comes to pick up or deliver the learning modules, they get the feel of a real classroom.

This dedicated teacher also makes sure to check on her students on a regular basis by messaging their parents of their cellphones or through messenger groups. Teacher Maristella also makes sure there is a weekly online meeting with her students so they could still get in touch with each other and the kids will feel, even for just one day, that they are in school.

Eagerness of my pupils in going back to school ang [siyang] nagsilbing inspirasyon sa akin upang gawin ang mga bagay na ito and their effort to reach me in our weekly online kumustahan para lang makita nila ako at ang mga kaklase nila,” she explained.

She also praised the supportive parents who try their best to teach their own kids, no matter how difficult that might be.

Madalas nagte-text ang mga magulang upang magtanong sa mga aralin para maunawaan nila at maituro sa kanilang mga anak,” she added.
