The sweet story has gone viral, with many praising this young man for trying his best to make sure that his daughter feels that he is still there to support her in school, even if he is spending time in jail.

Identified only as “Tom”, a 33-year-old inmate at the San Juan City Jail in San Juan City, Metro Manila, this loving dad tries his best to make use of his precious e-dalaw (virtual visitation) time to teach his daughter, Rey Ann.

The jail officers expressed admiration that Tom would spend most of his day preparing visual aids for his daughter. Seeing that this dedicated dad is determined to teach his kid even if he is behind bars, they provided him with school supplies such as crayons and bond papers.

Araw-araw gumagawa siya ng visual aid at nag-drawing para maturuan ang anak niya kahit nakakulong siya,” explained San Juan City Jail Warden JM Sabeniano.

During his allocated time for e-dalaw, he calls his family to teach his daughter many of the lessons assigned to her from the distance learning system used by the Department of Education (DepEd). He feels thankful that he is able to do this for his daughter, even if he is in jail.
