He used to be a barber but Dr. Jess Dexisne is now a licensed physician who has inspired a lot of people with his success story.

As featured on the Facebook page of Vice President Leni Robredo, Doc Jess recalls the struggles that he had to face while growing up in a poor family. Because his parents could not afford to send him to school on their own, he decided to find a job so he could enroll in high school.

He worked odd jobs before finding a regular gig as barber. Through his job as barber, he was able to complete his high school and later graduated from BS Nursing. There were times when he had to quit his studies because his money was not enough, but he did not quit on his dreams.

He worked harder in his barber job to earn more money to support his studies until he was able to fulfill his dreams. Though he completed his nursing course, he also wanted to be a doctor. So, this barber dreamed more and worked harder until he finally achieved his life-long dream.

As he graduated from his course in Medicine, this young man feels happy that he did not quit at all. Last October 2020, he was among the passers of the Physician Licensure Examinations. He is now officially a doctor!

In sharing his story, Doc Jess hopes that he could inspire many other poor students who are struggling over their finances and feeling unsure whether they have a chance of fulfilling their dreams.

Congratulations, Doc Jess!
